The Escape to Belize development continues its transformation into a premier sustainable lifestyle destination. With visible progress now taking shape on the ground (and water), the project has entered an exciting new phase — one that blends architectural craftsmanship, marine infrastructure, and a commitment to eco-conscious design.
Major Construction Milestones Underway
Since our last update, several key elements of the master plan have moved forward:
- The palapa structure — a central community feature — is now under construction and progressing steadily.
- Construction approval for the jetty has been granted, and works are officially underway.
- Canal excavation and reinforcement have resumed following environmental clearance, ensuring safe and navigable waterways for future homeowners.
All three components — the palapa, jetty, and canals — are on schedule for completion by the end of Q2 2025.
“It’s incredible to see our vision taking physical form,” said Seamus Kelly, CEO of Toucan Bay Development. “These works are not only functional but symbolic — they represent our promise to build sustainably, beautifully, and in harmony with Belize’s natural surroundings.”

Building With Purpose and Precision
Each element of construction is being executed with care:
- Locally sourced materials and craftsmen are contributing to the palapa, giving it authentic character and regional flair.
- The jetty design supports both recreational use and marine habitat considerations.
- Canal dredging is being managed in phases, ensuring minimal disruption to ecosystems.
Our environmental team continues to monitor every phase closely, in partnership with the Three Lagoon Sustainability Program, reinforcing our commitment to responsible coastal development.
What’s Next?
As we look ahead to Q2, work will continue on landscaping and marina detailing, while community infrastructure planning ramps up behind the scenes. We remain committed to transparency and sustainability every step of the way.
